Use it wisely
Milestack helps you get more back from what you were going to buy anyway. That's all it's for.
The best saving is the one you don't spend.
Miles are a small discount, not a reason to buy
- At milestack's usual value of 1.5 cents a mile, 4 miles for every S$1 is about 6 cents back on each dollar. Spend S$100 you didn't need, and you're about S$94 worse off, with 400 miles to show for it.
- A bonus cap, a minimum spend or a promo that ends this week is the bank's or the shop's reason for you to spend. It isn't yours.
- A Triple or Quad Dip makes a purchase you were already making better. It doesn't make a purchase worth making.
Never chase miles into debt
- Pay every card in full, every month. Interest and late fees cost far more than any miles earn back. If you can't pay a card in full, forget the miles and pay the way that costs you least.
- Milestack ranks every miles card it covers, and each shop lists the way to pay with each card, so you can find yours. It never suggests applying for a new one, and a new card is never needed to use it.
- If debt is worrying you, Credit Counselling Singapore is an independent non-profit that has helped people with unsecured debt since 2004.
What you see may not be the latest
- Rates, promos and shop lists change, sometimes daily. Every fact says when milestack last checked it, such as "Checked 3 days ago".
- Many shops' card categories are worked out from the kind of shop, not confirmed at the till. Where that matters, milestack also names a card that earns its bonus whatever the category.
- The app, your card's terms and the till have the final say. If they differ from what you see here, go with them.
- No bank, card, app or mall pays milestack to rank it. Milestack earns referral rewards from some apps' sign-up codes. They appear only in those apps' set-up guides, always marked, and never change a ranking: how milestack makes money.
Not financial advice
Milestack gives general information to help you compare ways to pay. It doesn't know your finances, and it isn't financial advice. What's right for you is your call.
